Smoky Lake Public Library

For 82 Years, the Smoky Lake Public Library has been a wonderful little centre for our community. They offer Preschool Storytime, Adult Book Club, and an Afterschool Program!

Smoky Lake County Community Learning Council

Striving to bring and promote lifelong learning by presenting opportunities and removing barriers for the learners in the Smoky Lake County region. Services include English Language Learners (ELL) Program: Improve speaking, reading, listening and writing through English classes/Tutoring. Family Literacy: Family & Children Programs. Basic Digital Training: Provide basic training and assistance with digital services. The cost of the services is program-dependent.

Lakeland Centre for FASD

We envision a region with no new FASD births and where currently affected individuals are well supported. FASD doesn’t end, and neither does the help that we provide to clients, caregivers and communities. Our doors are always open and you can contact us at any time. Once we or another clinic have diagnosed FASD we work with families to come up with a full suite of support that fits their individual needs. Everyone we treat is different and everyone deserves the highest quality care we can give.

The Dragonfly Centre

Creating a region free from sexual violence and where all individuals are supported in their healing journey. We believe that everyone should have access to specialized sexual violence services to support their healing journey. Counselling services are offered in individual, group, peer, and family counselling sessions, where each counselling option allows for different client needs to be addressed at different stages in the recovery process.

Family Resource Network

Builds family resiliency with programs and services for children, youth, and their families in Smoky Lake. 0-18 years of age. Programs & Services focus on the well-being of families and help build healthy, strong communities. Families can access a range of services and supports that focus on strengthening parenting and caregiving knowledge, Social and emotional development support to build positive relationship social support, coping and problem-solving skills.

Healthy Families, Healthy Futures

Healthy Families, Healthy Futures provides services such as Home Visitation provides in-home parenting education and family support services to expectant parents and those with children from newborn to the age of six. Trained Home Visitors provide families with information and support that helps them improve their parenting skills to provide a safe nurturing environment for their children. Home Visitors encourage a parent-led experience while providing recommendations based on leading practices. Works with families with children aged 0-6 years of age.

WJS Canada

WJS provides services such as Home Visitations. The in-home family support is to increase the family’s skills and abilities to manage day-to-day parental stressors and to enhance each family’s ability to care for their children. The program focuses on various areas but is not limited to: communication skills, sibling rivalry, conflict resolution, parental styles, child behavioural issues, co-parenting, parent-teen mediation, positive strategies with difficult behaviours, enhancing family connection and referrals to other resources or supports. They work with families with children aged 7-18 years of age.
